William A. Gould, Ph.D., is a Research Ecologist with the USDA Forest Service at the International Institute of Tropical Forestry. His research involves integration of field and remote sensing data in analyses of landscape pattern and process in a wide range of ecosystems including tropical, temperate, boreal and arctic regions. He is active in studies of biodiversity patterns and controls; vegetation composition, structure, and attributes; land cover mapping and modeling; landscape fragmentation; fire ecology; field education and outreach; and sustainability of ecosystem services.
