Stand and Landscape Dynamics
The Stand and Landscape Dynamics Research Program investigates the interactions of landscape components with controlling factors such as climate, substrate, topography, disturbance, and socio-economic factors to better understand the spatial distribution of forest and grassland resources over time. We analyze such things as land cover, forest fragmentation, forest structure and dynamics, fire and fuels, urbanization rates, vegetation, hydrology and species distributions using field sampling, modeling, remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) tools.
